Good sounds- where'd you get 'em?

Definitely a good loop. The string part- take it down instead of up, maybe alternate between the major and the minor. So (relative) M7/m7. I'm thinking of Xiu Xiu, "Bog People"

Cheesy-Pufff responds:

I found a bunch of old Sony Acid 4 loops and found out they're all .wav files so Fruity Loops can use them. I'll give your idea for the strings a try and I was thinking about alternating like you mantioned but didn't decide to put in the effort before uploading ... probably should have:P Thanks for the review:D

Good beat, who'd you take it from?

Nice mellow rap over a fitting background.

If you put any of the instrumentation over the original, I'd ask you to take the muted chimes and transform them into something different, like the original EP.

THANX 4 THE REVIEW MAN, I FEEL YA

Too slow, good synths.

After the first rep, you brought in a slightly faster theme- take it up a few octaves, maybe sooner. The muted synths over the bright high hat work well, and the stick drums echoing in the back appeal to me greatly. Good work.

Chrono Trigger pwns hardcore, dood.

I'ma give you all my base. Be happy.
Good guitar work.

Side note, Nobuo Uematsu is also my God, check out my latest submission please. I don't usually ask that in my reviews, but I'm on my knees, here.

Penis-Monster responds:

HMMMMMMMMMMM yes, I liked the 8-bit tune of yers, it was wack. So I voted 10 on it. It reminds me of the endles pixel jumps.

Gimme longer, gimme more layers.

I listened to the rest of your stuff- didn't take all that long. Take a line from Philip Glass and draw things out a little more. People tend to be much more patient than thirty seconds before judging a song. I need more melodic content to appreciate it. Rhythms alone do not suffice for my tastes.

I recognize that metal keyboard guitar...

It's pretty painful, I'm not really a metal fan, so I'm prolly not the best guy to ask.
I do like the chord aternation at 1:20. Very tinny sound, did you mic a keyboard? Very "Hall of the Mountain King" at the end. Needs more rhythm to bring the metal feel. You're really working on the outside of typical scalar concepts, so I won't criticize the melody.

Some good work, basic beat/melodic ideas be better

I like the echoey stuff coming in at :45, good layering. Put in more of the trap, reinforce the strong bass part with the high hat and snare. Cool chimes, I would like to hear more solid chord hits, not with the chimes, but underneath, maybe an EP groove.

This is not New Wave.

You're new, so don't take offense, this is just an honest critique.

You've got fruityloops, I'm guessing, and you're using the 404 for melody line. I started out the same way. Keep working and you'll get better. The bass is a little much, honestly. That's actually an understatement. My favorite instrument in all of fruityloopdom is the simsynth. Add that channel and play around.

For a primer on modern new wave, wikipedia recommends Kaiser Chiefs, Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, The Bravery. I'd throw in She wants revenge as the best bridge between old new wave and new new wave. It's sort of like punk rock for wusses with synths. THere's nothing wrong with that.

DreadDude responds:

What do you mean by fruityloops? 404? Sorry I had my base turned down when I made this. Simsynth? The Killers is New Wave? Craaazzyyy... thanks for the review, I hardly know what I'm doing...

Very nice

The bass is a little weak, I like a nice plucky kind of bass. It melds well with the sounds, but maybe have a little more punch in its opening riff..

Doesn't work so much for me.

Good drum line, good bass line, the main line becomes predictable and somewhat tiresome after a while. Good balance of sound, every part fits well with every other part. Might work better as a loop without the initial crazy sounds, tone down some (very little) of the high freq sounds.

I write music like a sow pisses.
