Thump thump thump...

More people should dance. If they choose to dance on the moon, that's fine. Moon walking is one thing, but moon dancing is better.

Bassmeisters responds:

Lets take the next rocket to the moon! And make a hell of a party, with aliens, moon walk and anything else included !

Emulate

For a more accurate Genesis synth sound, use Fruity DX10. It has the modulation that made genesis stand out from the sample-based SNES.

That 808 ride always grates on my nerves, but that's just me. If you have a SimSynth noise with the SVF filtering out the lows, I usually find that more acceptable.

Overall, though, well done.

mortis5000 responds:

I actually did use the SimSynth...I'm sorry I like the 808s there in a sense classical!

Sunny

Good idea, doubling the saws and piano. Gives a real bright texture to it.
I think you should name it Geoff. Naw, too Canadian.

GenaHzO responds:

Lol , thanks =]

but yea geoff is to canadian for thi song

Awesome melody, awesome intermittent beat.

I like the subtle distorted bass, I like the way the piano wraps it up- hardly anything I don't like. It could start a bit stronger from that synth melodic section, though.

nubbinownz responds:

hehe yeah it could have had a bit more power :D thank you !

Good sounds- where'd you get 'em?

Definitely a good loop. The string part- take it down instead of up, maybe alternate between the major and the minor. So (relative) M7/m7. I'm thinking of Xiu Xiu, "Bog People"

Cheesy-Pufff responds:

I found a bunch of old Sony Acid 4 loops and found out they're all .wav files so Fruity Loops can use them. I'll give your idea for the strings a try and I was thinking about alternating like you mantioned but didn't decide to put in the effort before uploading ... probably should have:P Thanks for the review:D

Good beat, who'd you take it from?

Nice mellow rap over a fitting background.

If you put any of the instrumentation over the original, I'd ask you to take the muted chimes and transform them into something different, like the original EP.

Chrono Trigger pwns hardcore, dood.

I'ma give you all my base. Be happy.
Good guitar work.

Side note, Nobuo Uematsu is also my God, check out my latest submission please. I don't usually ask that in my reviews, but I'm on my knees, here.

Penis-Monster responds:

HMMMMMMMMMMM yes, I liked the 8-bit tune of yers, it was wack. So I voted 10 on it. It reminds me of the endles pixel jumps.

This is not New Wave.

You're new, so don't take offense, this is just an honest critique.

You've got fruityloops, I'm guessing, and you're using the 404 for melody line. I started out the same way. Keep working and you'll get better. The bass is a little much, honestly. That's actually an understatement. My favorite instrument in all of fruityloopdom is the simsynth. Add that channel and play around.

For a primer on modern new wave, wikipedia recommends Kaiser Chiefs, Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, The Bravery. I'd throw in She wants revenge as the best bridge between old new wave and new new wave. It's sort of like punk rock for wusses with synths. THere's nothing wrong with that.

DreadDude responds:

What do you mean by fruityloops? 404? Sorry I had my base turned down when I made this. Simsynth? The Killers is New Wave? Craaazzyyy... thanks for the review, I hardly know what I'm doing...

Keep working on this.

Very nice atmosphere this creates. I think it should build more. Static dynamic qualities in classical music are a sort of death sentence. It has a very anticipatory feel. I've never heard of this East West Quantum Leap Orchestra, so I'm looking it up now.

Darthfett responds:

Thanks a lot for the review!

More dynamics, more work, less repetition. Got it. :)

Here's the page on East West Quantum Leap Orchestra (Gold)

Thanks for the review!

A little hollow

It lacks a sense of progression. I'm guilty of this too, so no worries. The break in the middle seems like a completely new work. It's got solid structure for improvement. I think it needs more parts. Then again, I'm the kind of guy who'd think that Beethoven's 9th lacked something here and there.
